Antique French Yellow Opaline Urn with Ormolu Rim

A footed urn in soft, buttery yellow opaline, finished with a gilt beaded ormolu rim. Yellow is one of the rarer opaline colors, which is part of what makes this one special. The flared trumpet mouth and ovoid body are the softened, pretty lines French makers turned to in the 19th century, and the stamped ormolu gallery at the top is the real period detail. The kind of glass that glows when the light hits it.

Beautiful on its own, even better candled.
